How many years in the sport?
29
When you were a kid, were there any early activities that might indicate you’d one day become a skydiver?
Snowmobiles since I was five, motorcycles briefly, tried bungee a few times (a few too many)…I used to stare at the sky at planes and helicopters, I think the sky was my calling…
What was the circumstance that led you to the DZ for the first time to make your very first skydive?
I organized a jump with co-workers. Four of us went. They did one. I said “hmmmmmm…. this is amazing!!” And did another. And another… And……..
What made you want to continue skydiving after your first jump?
The people. The owners and instructors in 1994 were the most friendly and accommodating people I had ever met – a strange, weird, eclectic, fun, welcoming, inviting, unique and individualistic bunch. The same stands today!
What’s the best / most memorable skydive you’ve ever made?
No question – Night, around 11pm.. Full moon. Winter – neg 10c on the ground. Canopy Relative Work (CReW). With my teacher, mentor, best friend. Buck. I was so scared we wouldn’t be able to see each other. Buck was “just chill dude, it will be fine!” We opened, it was brighter that the most sunny day you have ever seen. We landed, and I was so excited I didn’t even attempt to go to sleep!
What advice would you give to someone thinking about jumping for the first time?
Those who do, can’t explain. Those who don’t, can’t understand. <yet> Come join us in the do!
